Semantic Technology for Applied Sciences
An opportunity for a PhD Student or recent PhD graduate to contribute to a key topic of the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC): enhancing interoperability and integration, and laying the foundation for artificial intelligence applications by means of semantic technologies.
You will be working with Goldbeck Consulting and EMMC project partners on the recently developed European Materials Modelling Ontology (EMMO). You will support the EMMO team in a range of tasks to ensure a strong basis for further collaboration and use of EMMO by a wide range of stakeholders. It includes dissemination (via website, presentation material and publications), testing and tools evaluation, collaboration environments to work on EMMO, proof of concept of integration with other existing semantic assets/ontologies and proof of concept applications of EMMO.
The role is an opportunity for someone with either a computer science/mathematics/data science background to work in an applied science field or someone with a strong background in computational physics/chemistry/materials science/engineering to learn about semantic technology.
You will have a broad interdisciplinary interest across science and have prior knowledge of or are keen to learn about ontology. You are a good written and verbal communicator and team worker.
The role provides an excellent basis for further employment in the dynamic fields of materials modelling, computer-aided engineering and data science.
The internship is paid according to level of experience.
Start date: From April 2019, latest mid-June 2019. Duration 2-5 months. Part-time will be considered.
